The GGT blood test (Gamma‑Glutamyl Transferase) measures the level of the GGT enzyme in your blood, primarily indicating liver health. The GGT blood test is commonly used to detect liver damage, bile duct obstruction, or the impact of chronic alcohol consumption. No special preparation is generally required, but alcohol should be avoided 24 hours before testing. Normal GGT levels range from 9–48 U/L, though values may differ slightly by laboratory. It's a useful diagnostic tool for assessing liver and bile duct function.
