Basic Structure of a Jaw Crusher

To understand the working principle, you must first know the core components. The machine mainly consists of fixed jaw plate, moving jaw plate, eccentric shaft, flywheel, adjustment seat, frame and transmission power system. The fixed jaw stays stationary inside the frame, while the moving jaw is driven by the eccentric shaft to swing regularly. The two jaw plates form the crushing chamber, the core area where materials are crushed by extrusion. The simple and reasonable structure ensures low failure rate and easy maintenance.

Core Working Principle

Jaw crusher works on the mechanical extrusion crushing principle. After startup, the motor drives the eccentric shaft to rotate continuously, pushing the moving jaw to reciprocate periodically toward the fixed jaw.
 
When the moving jaw approaches the fixed jaw, large materials entering the crushing chamber are squeezed, split and bent under strong force, breaking internal structure into smaller particles. When the moving jaw moves away, crushed materials meeting size requirements fall and discharge by gravity; unqualified materials stay for secondary crushing. The cycle continues for continuous crushing.

Standard Crushing Process

  1. Material feeding: Large stones are fed evenly into the jaw crusher through a feeder into the closed crushing chamber.
  2. Extrusion crushing: The moving jaw swings repeatedly to crush hard materials by multi-stage compression.
  3. Graded discharge: Qualified materials fall automatically; unqualified materials remain for further processing.
  4. Conveying: Finished materials are transferred to screening or secondary crushing equipment to complete the production flow.
